Péter
Péter Szoboszlay (Diósgyőr, 1937) is a Balázs Béla Prize-winning animation director, graphic artist and teacher, one of the defining figures of the golden age of Hungarian animation.
He joined Pannónia Film Studio in 1961 with a fresh degree in interior architecture, and from 1966, as a director, became one of the innovators of Hungarian auteur animation; his best-known film is Hé, te! (Hey You!, 1976), a work about violence that won several international festival awards. Since 1981 he has lived and worked in Kecskemét as a director at Kecskemétfilm. He received the Balázs Béla Prize in 1984 and the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Hungarian Film Week in 2010; in 1998 he also founded an animation workshop for children.
